RUG CLEANING SERVICESAt Carpet Cleaning Sunderland, we believe having a clear mind means having a clean house and this begins from the floor up! We offer cleaning services for all rugs and carpets including machine made, Persian, Oriental, acrylic, handmade and / or wool rugs!
Our clients can choose from two different methods of cleaning including wet and dry rug cleaning. For rugs and carpets, we recommend an effective technique of steam cleaning for best results using environmentally friendly solutions and products for the clean and fresh look you want. Our team will use a hot water solution to penetrate deep into the material where dirt, contaminants, dust and mites will be hoovered and sucked up. Dry cleaning is best suited and recommended for silk carpets and rugs unlike other fabrics and material. |

Our Expert Rug Cleaning Process
Being a rug doctor can be a very tricky job and different methods can vary depending on preference, however we have outlined below our most preferred approach to a successful clean and our most satisfied customers:
Step 1: Pre-Inspection
Whether you are dropping your rug off or we are collecting it from your home, our first step is pre-inspection. Firstly we will inspect the rug to confirm its material and decide which means of cleaning is best suited along with taking its measurements. Certain antique rug or oriental rug cleaning methods require extra care. We will then check for any pre-existing marks, damage and odours to be noted. Finally we will take some photos for data collecting, before rolling it up carefully and packing it up to our treatment centre.
Step 2: Professional Vacuuming
Once full inspection has been done and we have established all factors, material and damages, we will place your rug separate from the floor and up on a grid in order to give it a thorough vacuuming and dusting on both sides. This step is important in order to remove any pet hair, soil and dirt that has accumulated, and we repeat this process until there is no more releasing out of the rug.

Step 3: Rug Dusting
This is a vital part of rug cleaning due to how effective it is in clearing deep ingrained dirt and soils that vacuuming alone cannot reach. Our rug dusting machine although powerful is quite gentle in making sure no damage is caused to the rug. Once this procedure is finished, we use our dusting machine of compressed air to blow the remaining dry soils in the rug fibres away for a clean finish.
Step 4: Pre-Cleaning
At this stage, we understand the importance of sensitive material and make sure to analyse each rug for shrinkage or colour fastness to avoid causing damage in the cleaning process.
We then begin treating the rugs with water and a special biodegradable cleaning solutions to gently work its way into the fibres on both sides and corners, a tip we have shared with our partner Steam Carpet Cleaning. A more powerful solution will also be used to break down thicker marks of dirt particles we encounter to gently break them down for easy cleaning.
Step 5: Washing
Once all solutions and water has been carefully applied to the rug along with some shampoo, we will begin the washing process using a water wand and roller to gently wash away all liquid until water is running clearly across the rug with no traces of soiling present. Some sensitive rug materials and fabrics will be washed and cleaned by hand.
Step 6: Drying and Grooming
The first step in drying the rug is to allow it to lay flat for 1-2 hours as some materials especially Oriental fabrics need time to dry flat and protect the fragile rug pile. Only after this will we finally hang it up for the final drying stage with the use of dehumidifiers in a temperature controlled room.
Step 7: Final Inspection and Finish
We will finally inspect your rug inch by inch to make sure there are no more marks or stains left and the cleaning procedure has been successful. We make sure to vacuuming it one last time for good measure and prepare it to be brought home!
